No, I completely understand. I’ve scored on the high end of “Limited Working Proficiency” approaching “General Professional Proficiency” on my oral examination by the US Government’s ILR scale. That’s the scale they use for assessing employees and potential employees. I know that I personally do not feel that I am on this level and I feel weird about it because that was my result. Hopefully that makes sense!
2.) I’m a native speaker of English and an almost proficient speaker of Russian, that’s a work in progress. I also know about German and Latin to translate text with a dictionary.
6.) I’ve always had a distate for spoken French and found Korean to be uncomfortably jarring.
7.) “sibilant”, “syllable” and “syncope”
13.) The most recent film I can think of that I couldn’t understand was “Winter’s Light” (Nattvardsgästerna) which was all in Swedish although honestly Russian films are still fairly incomprehensible for me as I found out watching “Kyka” last week.
7.) “sibilant”, “syllable” and “syncope” all have a ring to them that I can never shake.
8.) веснушки (ves-núsh-ki) for freckles!
9.) The Portuguese word “saudade” which, has been described as “the love that remains after someone is gone. Saudade is the recollection of feelings, experiences, places or events that once brought excitement, pleasure, well-being, which now triggers the senses and makes one live again.”
15.) Алло! Меня зовут Кей, и мне двадцать один год. Я обожаю мифологию, сказки о женщинах-рыцарях, картины Передвижников. Сейчас я плыву на челне к березняку, где ждет незнакомка моя.
WHERE are they getting this stuff !!
